, governor romney may forgo his debate preparation to extend a paul ryan event. is this stuff catching, do you suppose? >> he thinks he is the man. i don't know, the one thing we know about mitt romney is he has been prepared for a long time. somebody who started his debate preparations in formally back when the republican primary was in effect in april he was doing this kind of study and had already been through nearly two dozen debates in the republican primary, somebody who did well in those debates, i thought he usually made them in a reasonable way that suggested he would do well. hhe's going into this tomorrow confident. i don't think he is cocky, but that is a risk. lou: at least he has some evidence if he chooses to be cocky in this thing. it has some dramatic poll results. now all tied up, seeing the clear politics and national average of all tied up with the president. as we look at this, putting up the pole on women. looking at this, female voters, usa today, they're tied, my gosh. they will have to find a new potential view, it will have to find a new outlet. >> that is right.

there republicans, if you legislate romney in a republican house and senate, will extend all the bush tax cuts for one year, do fundamental tax reform that's revenue neutral, not a tax increase, passing the ryan budget to bring entitlement spending down so the spending goes from 24% of gdp to 20%, 16%. if obama wins, democratic house and senate, his budget takes spending up to 38% of the economy during that same period. a government twice as large. if you have split government, obama gets elected in a republican house or republican house or senator, what happens is exactly what happened two years ago which is they'll extent bush tax cuts for two years and fight it out in two years. there's not going to be a cliff. everybody knows this because if obama shuts down the government in january, the democrats lose ten senate seats, ten of which are vulnerable in 20 # 14. a democratic senate and republican house encysts that obama extends the tax cuts. gerri: i'm not sure everybody is so sanguine. mitt romney's been called a liar for the ideas on taxation and taxes. he wants to cut taxes 20%
